When you buy a used car, it is important you know all the information you can about the car; best to look at used car reviews. Information is power, you need to know its history, and reviews especially safety reviews.
You can use both international and national sites, most reviews with general information can be found oversees as no cars are made in New Zealand. New Zealand used car review sites include; AA, Consumer and NZ Transport Agency to name a few.
AA has a car review system, you can search a particular car and model and see the attached review, and these reviews are written mostly by AA publishers. Consumer also offers car reviews and has a car database with 100’s of entries for both new and used cars.
NZ Transport Agency has rated the safety of many cars used and new from early 90’s to late 2000’s.
Used cars are given a used car safety rating; this rating illustrates the safety of the vehicle to you, passengers and others on the road. The Used car rating is based on real crashes unlike other ratings that are based on controlled tests in laboratories.
It is important you are aware of the safety rating of any car you are looking to buy; this can greatly affect your decision.
The NZ Transport Agency have found that averagely newer cars are safer than older ones, as technology advance new safety features are found and safety of cars is increased. It is easier to find a review of a newer car than an older one, also you may have difficulty finding reviews if the make or model is uncommon.
